Book Design

Kvarglömt is a book about Åmsele, a small village located in Västerbotten, Sweden. Norrland has problems with infrastructure, depopulation and unemployment. This is where Åmsele becomes a living example.

Åmsele has been a working and living village, but over time, the grocery store, cafes, school, buses and gas stations have closed. I chose to release all dreams of occupation and try to let each state sell itself. Therefore, I let every village in north of Sweden represent Åmsele where I through image and Barbros diaries induce a understanding that there are people living in these villages, as well an insight about the conditions that the countryside suffers from today.

The pictures are linked to Barbro Andersson's diaries which she wrote from the age of 14 to her death, 86 years old.
